Ciro’s Italian Bistro in Lancaster is a stunningly beautiful place to dine. It’s an modern, upscale, yet casual Italian bistro that makes you want to stay a while. It’s located in Richmond Square, which is a really neat luxury apartment community with shops and restaurants in what looks like a “downtown” area of what looks like a tiny upscale mini-city!
I recently visited with family over the holidays where it was brilliantly adorned in Christmas decor. The staff was friendly and professional. From the minute I walked in the door, I knew this is a place I was going to enjoy. The menu was expansive with plenty of Italian entrees, salads, appetizers, deserts, and of course pizza.
I ordered the “Pizza Classica” which is roughly an 11″ personal pizza made with their signature sauce and mozzarella cheese. It appeared to have been baked in their awesome looking gas fired oven that was visible behind the bar (although I didn’t observe that process). I also enjoyed a view into their impeccably clean kitchen area while the chefs prepared our meals.
My family ordered an array of Italian entrees, salads, and appetizers. The chicken parmesan was a popular choice among the crew. That is certainly the item I will be ordering next time as the portions were huge and it earned rave reviews. Their fried mozzarella wedges were also delicious!
Reviewing Ciro’s Pizza
Given the pizza offerings on the menu, I expected the style of pizza to be more of a Neapolitan with a light puffy crust. This pizza was more of a thin New York style pizza, which I tend to enjoy more than Neapolitan anyway! The crust was soft and chewy with a slight trace of crispiness around the edges. The sauce was smooth and neutral in flavor, and the cheese was a solid mozzarella.
Overall, it was a basic NY style personal pizza that got the job done. I’m glad I tried it but would definitely opt for other options next time around. Their menu is too robust and filled with Italian culinary delights to order the same thing again! I absolutely recommend giving this place a try if you’re in the Lancaster area!
