Jo Jo’s Pizza Hummelstown is a really neat pizzeria with a cool vibe, charming atmosphere, and a good selection of pizza to choose from. I stopped in on a recent trip to Hershey after reviewing Palermo’s Pizza, which is just a block or two away on the same street. After posting that review, many people said, “You should have reviewed Jo Jo’s!” After being flooded with those comments and messages, I made it a point to stop in on my next visit to try the pizza.
Jo Jo’s is located in the center of town, which was decorated for the holidays. The town square looked so festive and was ready for the filming of a Hallmark Christmas movie! Really an awesome vibe in this town and Jo Jo’s really had the place decked out for the winter festivities. The inside was also decorated and would be pretty charming even without the holiday decor. The walls are adorned with historic vintage photos from inside the shop, and I’m a sucker for the brightly painted wooden booths. I really enjoy eating pizza in a nostalgic atmosphere. It brings me back to my childhood and simpler times.
Jo Jo’s Pizza Slice Selection
Jo Jo’s Hummelstown has a lot to pick from. Once you pass the large selection of six packs and beverages you arrive at the extensive slice counter. There were about 10 different gourmet pizzas to choose from, but I was going for a little more standard fare. I ordered a slice of the New York Style cheese pizza and a slice of the Sicilian.

Reviewing the Sicilian and New York Slices
The service was super quick and attentive, although I usually hope for a little more time on slice reheats so they are thoroughly warm and crisp. These came out warm enough, but could have used another minute or two in the oven. The New York slice had a nice crust on it with a light crumb with some lightness and bubble variation around the edge. The rest was thin, foldable, and easy to eat – more tender than crispy. The sauce had a pretty pungent flavor and aroma to it. It was punchy, slightly acidic, and had plenty of herbs in it. It really woke up my taste buds and created a memorable experience in a NY slice.
The Sicilian slice was thick and pillowy. It was soft, dense, and tender. It featured a similar sauce with the same bold flavors that were tamed down a bit with the proportions of the dough. The crust had a beautiful browning around the edges and some light crispness on the bottom. Overall, it was your quintessential American Sicilian slice. Easy to eat and enjoy with a nice punch of flavor from the sauce.
