If you spend any amount of time around the greater Binghamton area, it doesn’t take long to realize that Nirchi’s Pizza is baked into the local pizza identity. This style of sheet pizza is wildly popular here, and Nirchi’s is one of the names that comes up over and over again when locals talk about “their” pizza.
For this visit, I didn’t mess around with a single tray. I went all in and built one giant sheet made up of four different quarter sheets — 24 big slices of thick, soft sheet pizza. The lineup included:
- Plain cheese
- Buffalo chicken (hot wing)
- Chicken Spiedie (a must in this region)
- Chicken bacon ranch (highly recommended by locals)
Let’s start with the big picture: this is not artisanal pizza, and it’s not trying to be. It’s not Sicilian, not Old Forge, not bakery-style. It very much lives in its own lane — a soft, doughy, nostalgic sheet pizza that’s designed to be easy to eat and loaded with toppings.
The Crust & Bake
The dough is soft and chewy, with a slightly sweet profile. The bake is on the lighter side — pale on the bottom with some white spots and light tan coloring. There’s only a faint crisp around the outer edge, while the rest stays tender and doughy. It honestly reminded me a bit of school cafeteria pizza, in a familiar, comforting way.
It’s not bad, but it’s also not the star of the show. The crust is very much a vehicle — neutral, filling, and easy to eat — without much character beyond that. There may be a light brushing of garlic on the edge crust, which adds a subtle savory note, but overall the dough just kind of exists to hold everything else.
Sauce & Cheese
The sauce is smooth and flavorful, slightly acidic, but it ultimately reads sweet — especially paired with the dough. There’s also a noticeable garlic presence, both in the sauce and overall flavor profile. Cheese coverage is generous across the board, contributing to that comforting, nostalgic feel.
Toppings: This Is the Point
This is where Nirchi’s really shines.
The counter was absolutely jam-packed with slices, and the variety was honestly impressive. So many different combinations, all stacked high. Nirchi’s does not skimp on toppings — every slice I had was loaded with a healthy heap of whatever you order. Buffalo chicken, speedies, bacon, ranch — everything was applied generously and confidently.

Overall Take
Nirchi’s sheet pizza is soft, chewy, nostalgic, and extremely easy to enjoy. The crust itself is solid — not bad, not great — but it doesn’t need to be more than that. The sauce is flavorful, the cheese is plentiful, and the toppings are where all the personality lives.
This is a toppings-and-variety-driven pizza, deeply rooted in the Binghamton-area pizza culture. If you’re looking for crispy, artisanal, or refined, this isn’t that. But if you want comfort, familiarity, and an overwhelming amount of options, Nirchi’s absolutely delivers.
