Located on Oak Street in Scranton, Barletta’s Bar & Restaurant is a neighborhood spot that blends the feel of a classic local bar with the comfort of a casual sit-down restaurant. Stepping inside, you’ll find a warm, welcoming atmosphere where regulars mix with first-timers, the bar hums with conversation, and the dining area offers a relaxed place to slow down and enjoy a meal. It’s the kind of place that feels familiar right away — unpretentious, friendly, and rooted in the community — and it now calls home a location many locals will remember as formerly the Elbow, and formerly Cosmo’s on Oak.
Barletta’s pizza program is built around two of their most popular offerings, both of which can be ordered as a round thin crust or a thicker square Sicilian-style crust. I went straight to the people’s favorites. First up was the vodka-roni round pizza with hot honey. This was a thin crust beauty, baked to a gorgeous deep golden brown with a chew that was incredibly satisfying and just a hint of crisp around the edges. The vodka sauce was rich and creamy with a little saltiness and a ton of flavor.

But the real star here was the cup n’ char pepperoni, which cupped up magnificently and had just the right amount of char without crossing into burned territory. The pepperoni was insanely flavorful, crisp, and delivered a subtle heat that paired perfectly with the sweet drizzle of hot honey. This pizza was all about flavor and texture. If it had just a touch more crisp, we’d be talking elite-tier territory — but make no mistake, this one still earned a very strong score.
White Pizza With Broccoli
Next, I tried the white pizza with broccoli, this time opting for the square Sicilian crust — and wow. The crust came out another beautiful golden brown, with blistering along the edges and bottom that added texture and depth. While it gave me some pan-fried Sicilian vibes, the best way I can describe it is focaccia-style: softer, chewier, incredibly satisfying, and with a stunning crumb. The cheese blend appeared to lean heavily on mozzarella, letting the toppings shine. The broccoli was fresh, al dente, and clearly sautéed — it had way too much flavor not to be. Plenty of garlic delivered a serious flavor punch without overpowering the pizza.
If I’m splitting hairs, I preferred the square crust because it was so picturesque and satisfying, but the vodka-roni pizza was my overall favorite — that pepperoni is just tough to beat. The good news is, you don’t have to choose. Barletta’s lets you mix and match crusts and pizzas so you can build the experience exactly how you want it.
Bottom line: both of these pizzas land firmly in my “must try” tier, and Barletta’s Bar & Restaurant is absolutely worth a trip. Whether you’re stopping in for drinks, dinner, or intentionally hunting down great pizza in Scranton, this spot on Oak Street deserves a place on your radar.
