Pierogi & Pizza Plus Carbondale Pagash Review

Pierogi and Pizza Plus in Carbondale has been in business for about 2 years. It’s a small pizzeria located in the spot previously occupied by Pizza Guys of Carbondale. I would not known the place existed if it weren’t for a slew of locals who kept telling me I had to try it! So I made the trip over while in the area. It’s located in the commercial park behind Weis Market on Scott Street.

From the moment I walked in, there was this upbeat and friendly spirit permeating throughout the building. It was pretty cool to be immediately introduced to everyone in the place and have an invite to the back of the kitchen to check out the operation! What a great crew they have. Hard working and super friendly people who seem to be united by a desire to send people home happy and with a full belly.

A HeavyBeast of A Pagash

The pagash starts with a fresh dough crust which they parbake. Then, it’s topped with the most delicious pierogi filling you’ll find. It’s mashed potatoes packed with butter and plenty of cooper cheese! If I could have all of my mashed potatoes served this way from here on out, I absolutely would! On top of the mashed potatoes, you’ll find even more gooey cheese and (optional) fried onions.

The result of all of this indulgent cheese, crust, butter, onions, and potatoes is a beastly pagash that is supremely flavorful. I weighed a tray and it came in at about 6 pounds! I was left wondering, what is the most slices someone has ever eaten in one sitting?! It’s very good, but it’s also so very heavy. One thing is for sure – Pizza and Pierogi Plus gives you your money’s worth!

Round Pizza That is Sure to Fill You Up

The New York Style pizza was made on a slightly thicker and doughier round crust. It offered a smooth sauce that was pretty neutral. It wasn’t sweet, it wasn’t tangy, nor was it overly seasoned. Yet, it was still pretty flavorful. The centerpiece of this pizza was definitely the generous amount of cheese they applied! It was another heavy pizza. Foldable and soft but sure to fill you up and was also a solid value.
