Brasi’s Pizza in Swoyersville is a small pizza shop that packs a mighty flavor punch. Soon after the pizzeria opened back in 2022 I started receiving messages about how unique and delicious the pizza was. There has been a bit of a “buzz” on social media about the place ever since. Ironically, one of the pizzas that is recommended most at Brasi’s is called the “Bee Sting” which I placed an order for!
The pizzeria is an old school shop which appears to be run by one man, Andy, who I met and quickly came to know him as someone who takes a lot of pride in his craft. Customers have a complete view of the kitchen so it was cool to see the entire operation at a glance. I learned about how long he worked on perfecting the sauce and how he still tinkers to improve the pizza daily. I also got the vibe that the kitchen was a bit of a pizza laboratory as well.

Reviewing the “Bee Sting” Pizza
The pizza takes the elements of other Luzerne County staples like Gerry’s and Angelo’s and puts a different spin on it. Brasi’s maintains the cheese underneath the sauce swirl approach. However, the crust, which is often more dense on a Luzerne county pizza of this varietal, is much lighter and more airy. It’s easy to eat and before long you look down and the entire tray of pizza is gone!

The “Bee Sting” moniker had me thinking that this pizza would have hot honey on it. However, there was no sting! The bee sting just means there is some honey added, and there is no heat to sting your mouth! However, there is some delicious sliced pepperoni and diced soppressata on this pizza. The pepperoni is placed underneath the sauce so the peps don’t have that crisp, but they do have plenty of flavor. When combined with the diced texture and huge flavor of the soppressata, these two meats contrast beautifully against the sweet sauce and honey.
Overall, this was a really delicious pizza with a blend of sweet, salty, and savory. The crust was great, the cheese blend was really tasty, and the pizza was wonderfully executed.
