Ruby’s Inn Nanticoke is a historic and charming bar and restaurant. Located in the Hanover section of Nanticoke, it’s one of the town’s oldest eateries. Dubbed “The Original Local Bar” it’s family owned and operated by some of the friendliest and most welcoming folks you’ll ever meet. One step inside the front door and you can feel the history and welcoming spirit by the staff and patrons alike. The “Inn” has the feel of a bar and restaurant created inside of a residential home. In fact, we had the chance to tour the kitchen and found that it was actually just like any grandma’s kitchen at home! It’s a grandfathered operation that appears to be a kitchen like any other – but with 2 original pizza ovens pumping out pizzas and stromboli!
I teamed up with Bob Kalinowski of The Nanticoke Newsroom to go on a “Pizza Tour” of Nanticoke. The journey included four of Nanticoke’s oldest pizza making establishments. We visited Ruby’s Inn, Nardozzo’s Pizzeria, Joe’s Pizza, and Larry’s Pizza and Pub. It was a great day filled with delicious pizza and great conversation. The owners, staffs, and customers were all wonderful people. It was so interesting to hear how these businesses all support one another. It was also refreshing to learn about how committed the folks of Nanticoke are to history and telling stories about their roots. Really cool town, amazing people, and great pizza with unique characteristics everywhere!
