It Doesn’t Get any Better than Great Pizza, Sports on TV and a Giant Game Room Under One Roof!
Budd’s Pizza Cafe and Sports Hub in Kingston is a sports-themed restaurant and bar which serves up pizza that has been recommended to me by several different people recently. I finally had the chance to team up with a friend and head down to try the pizza and get the full experience. When we arrived and walked in I was surprised at how huge the place was. We started out in the dining area and made our way to the bar which was surrounded by various TV’s all over the walls and at tables. We took a seat and was immediately greeted by the friendly bartender who must’ve recognized us as first-timers and gave us the lay of the land, what the numerous specials were, and what beers and menu items were available.
We ordered a drink and a pizza then asked to see the patio, because I was completing my List of Best Decks and Patios in NEPA at the time and Budd’s was recommended by people as having a good patio. We took a peek out and saw that they had a fenced in patio with a full service bar, several tables, and an area for live entertainment – definitely a really cool casual place to relax, grab a drink and soak up some sun.
When we returned inside, the bartender told us about the game room so we took a walk up the steps to find a massive gaming area with a ton of pool tables, dart boards and other games. It reminded me of the largest man cave of all time and I wish it was closer to my home so we could hang out there more often! We also learned that people can rent out the game room for parties, which is a pretty cool idea and a unique place to have a birthday party and would probably be incredible for a fantasy football draft.
Pepperoni Bar Pie
After taking in all the sights of the game room, we returned to the bar and our pizza was ready shortly thereafter. The daily lunch special is a 12″ 1 topping pizza for $5.99, so I went with that and topped it with pepperoni. The pizza was absolutely steaming hot and right out of the oven. It looked magnificent with generous amounts of pepperoni placed closely together and a golden brown crust. The dough was stretched thin and it was cooked to a wonderful crispness. It had some crunch to it and was also quite tender. The sauce wasn’t a dominant flavor in the combination, but added some nice sweetness to balance out the saltiness of the cheese and pepperoni.
I haven’t had a “bar pie” in quite some time, but this one was wonderful and exactly the pizza I would want to have sitting at a bar sipping a cold one! Many bars just grab a prefab crust and spread some simple ingredients on it to make the pizza, but it’s clear that Budd’s is much more than that. The fresh dough is a nice touch and this pizza had a ton of great flavor and texture.
Final Thoughts on Budd’s Pizza
Overall, we very much enjoyed the visit to Budd’s. It’s definitely a cool place to catch a game on one of the many televisions, shoot some pool, grab a casual meal, or chill on the patio. They also have some pretty darn good pizza at great prices! You have to check out their daily specials on facebook because they seem to have great deals all the time. And since we were treated so nicely, it does bare mentioning again that the service was excellent. Thanks to those who recommended this pizza to me, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that the NEPA Nation give it a try! Have you been to Budd’s? Share your experience in the comments!
