Benny’s Clarks Summit is the Abingtons’ newest restaurant. Their other location Benny’s Sports Bar and Restaurant in Peckville is well established and known for great food. This new location is in a restaurant rich area across the street from Nina’s, and between Jimmy John’s and Jalepeno Mexican Grill on Northern Boulevard. After entering, it’s actually much larger inside than I imagined it would be from the outside!
It’s a clean place with a few tables and plenty of open space. They seem to do mostly take-out and delivery at present, but you can certainly grab a table and have a nice dine-in experience. They have multiple big screen TV’s to watch and an inviting atmosphere. I will note that the prices are pretty reasonable and the portion sizes are generous overall. On this visit, I ordered a double crust chicken wing pizza, a round pizza, some traditional wings, and a couple salads.
Reviewing the Chicken Wing Pizza
The double crust hot wing pizza has come highly recommended from readers over the years so I wanted to try it right away. It features 2 thin layers of dough with a thick, doughy outer crust that makes for a good handle to pick up this beast. It’s lightly seasoned on top, but the real story is about what is in the middle. It’s stuffed with a blend of cheeses, chopped chicken, and the wing sauce of your choosing. I went with mild buffalo sauce.
The mild sauce is absolutely fantastic. It’s a classic buffalo sauce with a hint of sweetness to it. It goes really well on their boneless and bone-in chicken wings. Benny’s also has a wide variety of other delicious sauces to choose from.
Benny’s Round Pizza Review
The round pizza has a dense and doughy crust that’s tender and of medium thickness. It’s a softer crust baked on a screen nice and evenly. It’s an easy eating pie with a smooth sauce and a cheese blend with the properties of American or Cooper cheese perhaps with some cheddar, but I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what variety it was. I’m very likely incorrect in my guess, but I hope it helps you understand what the cheese is like. The sauce was smooth and didn’t stand out as much against the generous amount of cheese and thicker crust. I know for sure this pizza hits at the heart of the NEPA taste buds! Let’s call it a NEPA Party Pleaser that locals will love!
Next on my list to try at Benny’s is going to be the double crust steak and cheese pizza, which comes highly recommended by locals.
