Consistent, Speedy, Affordable, and Delicious Food are Hallmarks of Local Pizza Chain
Pizza Bella Forty Fort is part of a chain of popular pizzerias throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania, primarily in Luzerne County. Pizza Bella opened their first pizza spot in 1990 and has been serving the community ever since. I received many recommendations from readers to try their hot wing stromboli and pizza. This shop is one of the few pizza spots in the area open for lunch on weekends so I was thrilled to be able to stop in on a Saturday.
My son (The Pizza Prince) and I stopped in to place an order and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Scanning the menu, I noticed how reasonable the prices were and we placed an order for a hot wing stromboli, a mild wing pizza, and a cheese pizza. I was amazed how quickly the pizzas were ready, piping hot and on our table in under 10 minutes!
Tasting the Pizza and Stromboli
We started with the cheese pizza, which is the best way to get a good baseline on a pizzeria’s quality. The pie was cooked about as well as one can do it – golden brown all the way around. It was cooked on a screen and made with some solid quality ingredients. I call this type of pizza the quintessential “Party Pleaser.” A party pleaser pizza is one that is affordable and if your brought it to a party, chances are everyone would enjoy it. It’s easy to eat tender crust, sweet but not too sweet and lightly seasoned sauce, and mozzarella cheese make this a tasty combo.
The hot wing stromboli was also cooked nicely on the outside, a smidge undercooked on the inside, but it reheated well later. This often happens when there is a generous amount of toppings inside which I’m not complaining about! The boli was packed with cheese and chunks of tender chicken, bleu cheese dressing, and buffalo sauce. Overall, everything you want in a hot wing stromboli!
My favorite of the 3 items that I tried was the one that so many recommended – the mild wing pizza. It was built on the same crust as the cheese pie described above. The mild sauce and generous chunks of chicken are what really makes this pie special. The mild sauce is a sweet and smooth buffalo sauce with just a hint of heat. It’s a really nicely composed sauce that goes perfectly on a pizza like this. I feasted on multiple slices despite me promising myself I’d only eat one!
