The Food Just Keeps Improving at McGrath’s!
McGrath’s Pub and Eatery Dalton is a place that I have frequented many times spanning 2 decades. Whether for a night out of live musical entertainment, a day of watching football on some of their many TV’s, or just stopping in to grab food for takeout it’s always an enjoyable experience. Having been to McGrath’s a lot, I have to say the food has continued to improve every time I visit.
What is BTS Sauce?
As you can see by the dates below, this review spans a full decade 2012-2022 with me trying the cheese and pepperoni pizzas back in the day. I recently reviewed their hot wing pizza with BTS sauce, and let me just say this sauce is epic! I don’t know the recipe, but I think it combines their buffalo sauce with garlic and bleu cheese dressing to create a hearty and flavorful sauce. Naturally smothering it on a pizza with a ton of chicken is a total winner. Incidentally, this is the pizza that locals recommend to me most!
Hot Wing Pizza Review
The Hot Wing Pizza is built upon an Old Forge Pizza shell. At the time of this review, the shell was made in-house, but I saw on a recent post that McGrath’s is again using the legendary Agostini Bakery pizza shells. Atop the crust comes a healthy smattering of a melty gooey cheese blend, chunks of diced fried chicken, and a drizzle of the BTS Sauce. It all comes together to create a super flavorful tray of pizza perfect for snacking on at the bar or at home.
Cheese and Pepperoni Pizzas
Upon first glance, the pie appeared to be magnificently cooked and prepared with the cheese being melted perfectly and the sauce and cheese spread evenly to the edges. With a nice presentation to begin with, I took my first bite and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of flavor in this pie. The mozzerella cheese was of a very good quality with a pretty high moisture content that isn’t easy to pull off on a square pizza. The sauce, which was generously applied, was simplistic, yet well seasoned and pretty tasty. The tomatoes were pureed, so the consistency of the sauce was smooth.
Overall, McGrath’s pizza is all about the flavor and is very enjoyable. For me, the Hot Wing Pizza with BTS sauce is my recommendation if you’re looking for something supremely delicious. Their wings and wing bites are also fantastic with the same sauce. I also go with the waffle fries. Enjoy!
