I’ve always had a soft spot for OIP—there was one in my hometown of Factoryville when I was growing up, and I remember the pizza always being consistent and the soft, house-made bread being something I absolutely loved. So when I found out there was an Original Italian Pizza in Lewisburg while traveling with my family to tour Bucknell University, I knew I had to stop in. The OIP chain is incredibly popular throughout Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania, and it actually originated in New York State. Over the years, it’s become a reliable neighborhood pizza spot with a deep menu and roots that run through dozens of communities.
This particular OIP location in Lewisburg has been serving the area since 1989. It’s a family-run restaurant known for its wide variety of pizzas—from thin-crust to Sicilian—as well as pasta dishes, strombolis, subs, and wings. They make many of their items from scratch daily, including soups and breads, and they offer solid value with combo deals like two slices and a drink for under $8. Located just off Route 15 on AJK Boulevard, it’s a convenient stop for locals and Bucknell students alike, with dine-in, pickup, and delivery options through DoorDash, Uber Eats, and others.

Reviewing the CHEESY Cheese Pizza!
I ordered a plain cheese pie and asked for it well done, since I know OIP tends to bake their pizzas on the lighter side by default. The pizza came out looking absolutely spectacular—golden brown crust, and a generous amount of cheese that bordered on what I’d consider double cheese. The mozzarella was especially rich, with a noticeable sharpness that stood out. I spotted a Bacio cheese sticker in the window, which made sense (if that’s the cheese they are using)—Bacio is made with buffalo milk and tends to bring that bold, slightly salty flavor I was picking up.
The cheese was definitely the dominant flavor here, while the sauce played more of a supporting role due to the heavier proportions of sauce and crust. The crust had a pleasant flavor and a nice chew to it, with a medium thickness that held up well under the weight of all that cheese. Overall, like every OIP I’ve ever visited, the pizza is quite good, reliable, delicious and you can order with confidence!
If you’re in Lewisburg and looking for a solid, dependable pie—especially with extra cheese pull factor—OIP is definitely worth a stop. Just don’t forget to ask for it well done if you like a little more crunch.
