New NYC Pizzeria Serves Tasty Sicilian Adorned With Amazing Roni Cups
There are a countless number of slice shops in NYC to choose from. As I found from my previous trip to NYC, many are average and nothing to write home about. But there’s something to be said for being hungry for just a slice or two and not having to make the commitment to order a full pie and sit down to eat it. If you’re near the area of the World Trade Center, Siena Pizza and Cannoli is a solid choice, especially if you like pepperoni.

I ordered a Sicilian Slice with cup n char pepperoni on it. The roni cups just spoke to me. The pepperoni was a thicker cut and looked very familiar to some I had tried before. The pizza guys reheated my slice for me and I went out to try it. The taste of the pepperoni was even more familiar – it was the Rosa Grande Pepperoni that I had tested and made a ton of pizzas with at home! After finishing my slice, I went back in to verify the roni variety and the pizza guy let me know I was correct!

In any event, the slice itself was pretty good. The crust was light and a little flaky, crispy on the bottom, with a neutral tasting sauce that didn’t have a huge presence, and cheese that paved the way for the pepperoni to shine. The story here is really about those roni cups! I learned they also offer Mike’s Hot Honey which probably takes the slice to another level (as Mike’s tends to do)! So give this spot a try if you’re in the area. Great people, and a quality slice!
