The Dugout – A Neighborhood Bar With a Ton of Charm and Some Darn Good Pizza and Wings

The Dugout in Scranton is a neighborhood bar known for their wings and pizza.

The Dugout is a really cool little bar in Scranton with some historic charm.  I met a few friends there to hang out and of course try the pizza and wings.  One interesting thing about the Dugout is that they don’t have a sign on the building to let you know that it’s a bar, so I had to double check with my friend that I was in the right place before entering.  As we walked in, everyone was so friendly from the patrons to the bartender to the rest of the staff.  It had an awesome neighborhood bar vibe where everyone greeted everyone and said hello.  I probably met 5 or 6 new people in a matter of 90 minutes!

We ordered some hot and mild wings, which came out first and were ready in under 10 minutes.  The wings were huge and cooked wonderfully crispy – just how I like them.  The sauces were a classic buffalo sauce done beautifully with great flavor and just the right amount of heat on each.

The pizza was a classic Old Forge style pizza with a medium thickness crust, a vibrant sauce which was slightly sweet but also with a bit of zip to it.  It had a smooth consistency and a really pleasant flavor profile and a finished clean.  The cheese blend on top also had a nice melt and a pleasant flavor to balance it out.  Overall, the photos here don’t do this pizza any justice (pretty dark in there) and it was a rock solid quality tray that rivals most Old Forge pizzas in the area.
