I took a trip to Hazleton, which is a city that I do not get to often enough. As I prepared for a trip down for a duo review, quite a few people told me to try Alta Pizzeria and Pasta House while I was in town. After feasting at Pizzette Pizzeria and Frankie’s Pizzeria, I was stuffed to the gills but figured I could muster one more pizza review, so I called in an order for a small pizza to go and stopped by.

Alta is located at 308 South Poplar Street in Hazleton in a bit of a residential area across the street from Landmark Bank. The restaurant looks small and a little unassuming from the outside, but as soon as I entered, I felt the warmth and welcoming spirit of the place. To my right there was an open kitchen where you could see the whole line of cooks, complete with fiery sautee pans and pizza ovens roaring to feed eager customers. To my left there was a lively dining room packed with guests enjoying their Italian cuisine and pizza. It looked like a place that I really need to take the first lady to in the near future!

I didn’t have much time to look around further because I was greeted immediately by a very friendly man who had my pizza all set and ready to go. I was almost bummed it was ready so fast cuz I wanted to stick around a little longer, but it was so busy, they didn’t need me lumbering around geeking out on the ambiance and food aromas.
This pizza was piping hot and actually steamed up the windows in the pizza mobile a bit as I prepared for a review on the run. The crust was soft, chewy, and folded easily. It was also dense, flavorful and tender. The sauce was quite vibrant and fresh and provided a nice contrast with the generous amounts of cheese applied on top. The cheese was definitely my favorite part of this pizza because it was high quality and flavorful, and really completed the pizza. Overall, I’ll call this a very good pizza that I can safely recommend to all people because it’s got qualities consistent with a broad range of taste buds.
I am very excited to get back for a full meal at Alta, because everything I saw in those brief moments looked delicious and the prices on the menu are super reasonable. This is an exciting restaurant that I’m thrilled that the NEPA Nation encouraged me to get to and it was certainly worth the carb coma that I slipped into on the long drive home!
