How You Can Attract Influencers to your Pizzeria

If you’re a local pizzeria hoping an influencer will walk through your doors, here’s the truth: you don’t need to comp meals or cut checks to get attention. If you want to attract influencers to your pizzeria, from my side of the camera, what actually gets a place on my radar is way more organic—and honestly, way more powerful long-term. The spots that stand out aren’t chasing influencers… they’re building something so interesting, so talked-about, and so visually undeniable that we feel like we’re missing out if we don’t show up. If you want that kind of attention, here are the real ways to make it happen.

1. Create Buzz-Worthy Menu Items

If your menu looks like everyone else’s, it’s going to be hard to stand out. The places that grab attention are doing something visually and creatively different—whether that’s a crazy loaded pizza, an over-the-top hoagie, or a wild appetizer that people can’t stop talking about. It has to look good and taste even better. Influencers are always scanning for spots they “need” to try, and if your food is popping up as something unique in the area, it creates that gap—you don’t want to be the one they missed.

2. Turn Your Customers Into Your Marketers

The most powerful way to reach an influencer is through genuine buzz. When customers are consistently tagging, messaging, and recommending your pizzeria, that gets noticed fast. But this only works if you give them something to say. Tell your story. Highlight specific menu items. Share what makes them special, any backstory, or what makes your shop different. When your customers understand that, they’ll pass it along in an authentic way—and that carries way more weight than anything you could say directly.

3. Be Your Own Influencer First

If you’re hoping an influencer brings attention to your business, your own social media needs to reflect that you’re worth the visit. Too many pizzerias only post daily specials, and you can’t even find a solid photo of their standard cheese pizza. That’s a problem. Start posting real, high-quality images of your core menu. Show what people can expect every day, not just the specials. Tell your story. Build a following. Influencers notice when a place already has engagement—it makes their content perform better too, and it makes your shop more appealing to visit.

4. Build Real Relationships (Not Pressure)

One of the quickest ways to turn an influencer off is by saying things like “you never came here” or “we have the best pizza.” Every owner should believe in their product—but that’s not what gets someone interested. What works is conversation. Talk pizza. Engage with their content. Find common ground. Build a real connection over time. Some of the places highest on my list are there because of ongoing, genuine interactions—not because they pushed for a visit. And sometimes, that process helps both sides decide if it’s even the right fit.

5. Be Clever, Consistent, and Different

Sometimes it’s not just what you do—it’s how you do it. A great example right now is a pizza truck in the Berwick area, Pi On The Fly, tagging me every day until I show up. But it’s not random or annoying—it’s consistent, playful, and backed by customers who are joining in. There’s personality behind it. On top of that, their pizza looks different and stands out visually. That combination—creativity, consistency, and community involvement—is what builds real curiosity.

A Quick Reality Check on Free Food and Payments

You’ll notice none of this involves paying influencers or giving away free food. Personally, I always turn that down and prefer to pay like any other customer. Other influencers may approach it differently, and that’s fine—but before offering compensation, think about what’s actually being exchanged. Travel, time, editing, marketing and production all factor in. The real goal should be to make your pizzeria so interesting and talked-about that an influencer wants to come on their own.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the day, attracting an influencer to your pizzeria isn’t about handing out freebies—it’s about building something worth talking about and making it impossible to ignore. The pizzerias that win are the ones that create buzz, tell their story well, and connect with their community in a real way. I’m always paying attention to what people are saying, what looks different, and what feels authentic. If you’re a local shop trying to get on an influencer’s radar, I’d love to hear what you’ve tried—what’s worked, what hasn’t, or what creative ideas you’re thinking about next. Drop your thoughts and let’s build something better together.
