You Don’t Have to Travel to Detroit to Enjoy Buddy’s Famous Pan Pizza

Buddy’s Pizza in Detroit is the creator of the Detroit Style Pizza which is now popular all over the United States. This unique style of pizza features a “frico” edge with cheese deliberately pressed against the side of a pan which resembles an auto parts pan. The pizza is baked until the cheese caramelizes and becomes the crispiest, tastiest, and crunchiest bite of pizza in all of sports!

History says that the OG DSP was created in 1946 when a pizza was pressed into a steel auto parts pan. Detroit style pizza has been popular as a regional style pizza, but didn’t become mainstream nationally until recent years. Visiting Buddy’s has been on my bucket list for a long time, along with my friend Fredi the Pizzaman in nearby Melvindale, MI.

Detroit Style Pizza to Your Doorstep

With a trip to Detroit not in the cards anytime soon, I was grateful that Buddy’s ships pizza direct to your doorstep through services like Goldbelly. I actually received one of Buddy’s limited edition kits that you make your own pizza with fresh (frozen) dough. They included cheese, sauce, oil and pepperoni in the kit too along with specific instructions. The process of making it was fun and easy and you can see my thoughts in the video below!
